Do Changes in Life Cause You to Suffer? | The Perceptual Shift Show EP 46

Life rarely changes in just one way.

A career takes an unexpected turn. A relationship ends—or begins. We move somewhere new and have to find our place again. We outgrow an old version of ourselves. Or sometimes we experience a loss that shakes our sense of stability altogether.

Each kind of transition brings its own challenges. And each one asks something different of us.

In this episode of The Perceptual Shift Show, James and Robbie explore some of the most common changes we face in life—career changes, relationships, relocation, personal growth, and unexpected loss—and practical ways we can navigate each of them without losing sight of who we want to be.

What happens when a career no longer reflects our values? How do we remain loving in a changing relationship while still maintaining healthy boundaries? How do we create connection when we’ve moved somewhere new? And how do we allow ourselves to grieve a loss without allowing that grief to permanently overshadow everything else that matters?

Sometimes moving forward means celebrating small victories. Sometimes it means asking for help. Sometimes it means allowing ourselves to feel what we feel while taking one small step forward anyway.

This episode touches on judgment, compassion, accountability, relationships, and what it means to be “perfectly imperfect.”

Because personal growth isn’t about reaching some magical point where we never make another mistake. It’s about becoming willing to recognize when our behavior isn’t aligned with the person we want to be—and having the courage to do something about it.

“We can love life in spite of having moments of discomfort.” — James
