“Today, I will get peaceful first, and let my work and life emerge from that base”. â The Language of Letting Go
This idea is the fundamental reasoning why I do my recovery rituals in the morning BEFORE work. All the decisions I make, and interactions I have with others, will surely turn out better when my thinking is along spiritual lines. Even when I’m running late (like today), I make some time to get centered. For me it’s worth every minute, because the result is that ILML! – James
Psalm 46:10 Be still and know the I am God: I will be exalted among the hteahen, I will be exalted in the earth. My meditation practice has focused on using following the breath to stay in the present moment, gently silently saying no thank you to thoughts from the past or worries of the future. Listening. And when the mind wanders (because that’s what the mind does), I gently bring it back to the present moment breath. Each time I bring it back, I improve my focus. Then I use my focus for my Purpose: to become more useful to God every day, to please God and bring Him glory.

Charlie, one of my sponsees who recently passed away, used to start each daily entry in his journal like this:
Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know that I am.
Be still and know.
Be still.
Be.
Then he would write out his 10th step and gratitude list. Although not religious myself, I respect all spiritual beliefs, and find this particular quite quite calming to my mind too. Thank you for sharing!
