Uncover, Discover, Discard

“To be aware of a single shortcoming within oneself is more useful than to be aware of a thousand in someone else.” – Dalai Lama

Have you ever recognized a shortcoming in someone else? Think you may have any? If so, I’m going to suggest something that will change your life for the better. Ready? Ask someone close to you what they think you’re 3 biggest shortcomings are. Now, get ready to NOT react defensively. Instead, to those brave enough to tell you the truth say “Thank you for your honesty, I’m going to work on those things.” Then create a plan of action to help eradicate those shortcomings which actually block us from increased peace and abundance. I’ll commit to do this today and report back my findings. Are you brave emough to accept this challenge with me? Are you ready to continue getting better? If so, let me know what you discover.   1. I love this! Uncover & discover!
    I did this type of feedback at a personal growth seminar back in 1989. It was referred to as “sitting in the hot seat”. Each person took a turn getting the negative side of themselves pointed out. It was very revealing. We had to say “thank you for caring and sharing” to each individual. Then we went back into the “hot seat” one by one for positive feedback. That was even more revealing. I discovered so many things inside of me that I never thought would effect someone else in a positive way! Awesome stuff! Thank you for caring and sharing about me! 😘


    • Your welcome. Thanks for sharing your experience. Similarly whenever I do a 6th step or work with a sponsee on one, I make sure character assets are listed as well as shortcomings. It’s a sad day when we aren’t searching for areas of growth, but sadder still if we don’t celebrate our strengths!
