What’s the Point?

What’s the Point?

“I ask God… please, keep me grateful!” — Daily Reflections

Gratitude is the foundation upon which I love my life. It supports every thought, action and word that makes me feel good inside. It’s the one thing that can get me out of any funk and restore me to happiness when I’m feeling hopeless. Without gratitude, what’s the point? I’m forever indebted to the program and it’s members who have given me the tools I use to get, and stay, in gratitude each & every day. ILML!

My Life Started Soaring

“… there is always that moment when you have to take the leap of faith and just do it, with no guarantees.” — Attitudes of Gratitude in Love

This reminds me of the scene where Indiana Jones has to step off the cliff into the canyon to save his father and trust he won’t fall. God is like that for me. I can’t prove there’s a higher power, but once I chose to believe, my life started soaring. I became happier, more fulfilled, felt safer, more comfortable in my own skin, was calmer, kinder, and full of a renewed sense of purpose. These days I’m happy to take new leaps of faith because I know the risk is worth the reward. In Boston today and ILML!

My Biggest Cheerleader

“Help to take failure, not as a measure of their worth, but as a chance for a new start.” — Book of Common Prayer
Everyone fails, makes mistakes, and has accidents. Everyone. Personally I have lost money, invested poorly, been fired from jobs, had failed businesses, ruined relationships, received parking tickets and hurt those I love. Far from perfect? You bet! But every one of my successes was built on the experience of my failures. In fact, I’ve learned more from failing than anything else in life. In a way, failure has been my biggest cheerleader. Today, when I fail, I’ll simply say “Thanks for showing me how to do better.” ILML!

Down the Rabbit Hole

Down the Rabbit Hole

“… search out fear, doubt, and anything else that promotes and supports self-sabotage.” — Until Today
It doesn’t take much to send me down the rabbit hole. It doesn’t require someone being mean, me not getting my way, or even losing something I want. It doesn’t require failing, or getting hurt, or being financially in trouble. All it requires is one little negative thought, that leads to feeling bad or angry, and the downward spiral begins. Today I’ll be aware of what I’m thinking and feeling, and if it’s not in line with love, abundance & kindness, I’ll stop and switch it up. By taking this kind of direction, I (get to) LML!

Living the Greatest Life

“To really have a life, a good life, means sticking with something long enough to see if it works for you, admitting when it doesn’t, moving on without fear or anger and taking the blessings from the lessons, because you know that every lesson is a blessing.” – Until Today

Over the years, when I found myself questioning whether I was living the life I wanted, it always turned out I wasn’t.

Today, mostly because I’m so involved in gratitude, service, the solution and spiritually connecting with my HP, I know I’m living the greatest life for me at this moment. How do I know, for sure ? Easy… ILML! Are you loving yours or is it time for a change?

The New Improved Me

The New Improved Me

“… we were prodded by unreasonable fears or anxieties into making a life business of winning fame (approval), money, and what we thought was leadership.” – 12&12

I added (approval) to the quote, as to me it feels much the same as fame. The money, the house, the car, the perceived success by others is great, but you know what’s even better? Recognizing how great I am myself, and celebrating it! Taking direction from my sponsor and really working my program consistently has transformed me into a useful, helpful, kind and wonderful person – someone I can  love and be proud of. I’m going to stick with the winners in the rooms, work my program, and help others, because I love the new, improved me and, ILML!

Jump on that Train

Jump on that Train

“Acceptance is the answer to all of my problems…” AA Big Book

What’s happened is over, not accepting it is only causing me pain and suffering – something I’m not interested in. That isn’t to say that I roll over for abuse, rather I set healthy boundaries and detach – but I’ve learned that I can’t stop anyone else’s behavior. I don’t give up on my dreams either, I work towards them – but when life goes a different way, I jump on that train, excited my higher power is leading me towards a new, even better dream. The attitude of acceptance allows me to embrace everything happening right now, so that ILML!

The Voices in my Head

The Voices in my Head

“The quiet left by the silenced voices makes room… Today will be as glorious as I quietly allow it to be.” – In God’s Care

Chris and I were doing recovery work this morning. When I read this to him, he said “You have to become a master at surrendering to be happy.” When I’m focused on the problem, the voices in my head can be so loud, and the echo in there can be so endless, that it destroys all of my peace of mind. Focusing on gratitude quiets the voices, so that once again, ILML!

Know verses Grow

Know verses Grow

“… we are called upon to step up to the plate and grow.” — Attitudes of Gratitude in Love
As a child in school, when I raised my hand to answer a question and I was correct, I was praised. That felt good. When I was wrong, it felt bad. So I pretended to have all the answers. Over the years, my pretentious righteousness kept me in ignorance, preventing me from having truly meaningful relationships with others. It’s only by admitting I don’t know, that I can obtain the opportunity to learn.

Today I’ll put my ego aside, try to recognize when I don’t have the answer, ask for help, and really listen to others. The more I open myself up to learning from life and others around me, the more ILML!

Happiness, Peace & Serenity

Happiness, Peace & Serenity

“When we cultivate an attitude of acceptance and gratitude for what is, we find the energy to change what we can, and the serenity to let go of the rest.” – In God’s Care

Chris and I read and discussed this today. Both of us are so grateful that the program has shown us that we can have happiness, peace and serenity at any time, no matter what, simply by changing our attitude and perception. What a gift. I love the program and ILML!
